Doolan

Jim Doolan is an elected member of The Water Colour Society of Ireland, and The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club. He is a regular exhibitor with The Royal Ulster Academy (RUA). He had also shown over many years with Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), and with The Distinguished Artists Group and United Artist’s Groups at various venue throughout Ireland; Also represented at Arnott’s Portrait Exhibitions in Dublin.

Recent works have been shown with: The Irish Water Colour Society and The Ulster Watercolour Society’s Annual Exhibitions.

His Wexford Opera Festival solo exhibition 2010 was shown in the PigYard Gallery at Spectrum Art & Framings’ entitled ‘From My Travels’, and featured works from travels in Italy, Croatia, The Czech Republic, Spain, Malts, Monaco and the Irish landscape.

Jim’s paintings also feature regularly at auction in Dublin in the Contemporary School of Painting and the artist has had successful solo shows both in Dublin and at previous Wexford Opera Festivals. He is also a registered Art practitioner with The Arts Council of Ireland

A recently completed life-sized portrait of Desmond Carrick RHA (Jim’s former teacher) by Jim features in the recent publication ‘Desmond Carrick RHA. The Lie of the Land’ by Gandon Press which is a treasured tribute to this renowned painter and teacher.

Born in Dublin, Jim Doolan studied at the National College of Art followed with studies with many leading names in the Irish art world. His work encompasses drawing and painting from life, landscape, portraiture, and still-life, in all media.

Jim takes special pride in encouraging the development of visual skills in individuals and groups at various levels and is an art teacher registered with the CDVEC.
